What to look for on your gaming mouse

You’ll want a gaming mouse with at least 2,000 DPI, which is your mouse sensitivity level. The higher the DPI the farther the mouse curser will move on the screen when you move the mouse on your desk. A cheap wireless mouse might have a 500 DPI which might be ok for your grandma to use. However, a high end gaming mouse will be around 5,000 DPI.

You’ll want to get an adjustable DPI on the fly gaming mouse.

This allows you to change the DPI and make your mouse move faster or slower just by pressing a button on the mouse versus pausing the game and going into the settings and moving the sensitivity up. For instance, when playing Battlefield 3, you’ll need the DPI maxed out when flying a jet, helicopter or driving a tank so you can move the vehicle as fast as possible, but when you’re back in your soldier you’ll need to dial the DPI down so you can aim and shoot accurately.

You’ll also want to get a gaming mouse with high polling so it can transmit your gaming mouse location to the computer faster and it results in smoother response. For instance the Logitech G9X gaming mouse has a polling rate of 1,000hz and a DPI of 5,700.

Some other great features of high end gaming mice are the weights. Yes, you can add or remove smalllogitech g9x weights weights to the gaming mouse to match your personal feel and control.

You can also change the body of the mouse, for example probably the best gaming mouse for the money right now is the Logitech G9X, it has 2 interchangeable grips or bodies for the mouse so you can choose the one that feels best in your hand.
